Highway 49 was established as a link between the mining communities in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. It was created during the Gold Rush Days. You will travel along a scenic route through redwood and pine forests, past beautiful lakes and rivers, and to historic towns. It runs north from Oakhurst, California to Vinton and State Route 70.
